5/2/2025-Best questions to ask on sales calls

Daily Quote

“The questions you ask are more important than what you could ever say.” Thomas Freese

SKILL

You only have so many minutes in your pitch meetings with buyers, so you must be prepared and efficient with the questions you want to ask.

If you smartly use online tools and resources to acquire the requisite knowledge for each pitch meeting, you won’t waste valuable meeting time asking tactical questions.

Elevate your conversations by asking strategic, impactful questions that get buyers to divulge insights your competitors aren’t getting.

Your reward is hearing the buyer say, “Hmmm, let me think about that a moment.”

DO

Start creating your strategic questions for your next pitch meeting right after you book the meeting. Create three to five high-value questions and edit them daily before the meeting to improve them.

In addition to learning how your buyers’ partners are opening holes for you, be sure to create questions against these categories:

1. Objections. Probe for insights into the hurdles you need to overcome.

2. Long-term strategic needs? Show you’re looking beyond the horizon.

3. Personal motivations. How can your solution make your buyer a hero?

Are these journalists paid to be stupid? Wow.

Preparation is underrated, right?
