11/23/2023-Happy Thanksgiving

Skill

Focus on your outputs, your behaviors….your actions, and results will come. Invest in your skill development and you will be a fulfilled seller over a long career.

Today, be thankful for the turkey on your plate, the mashed potatoes that make your mouth dance, your mom’s pumpkin pie, and expandable pants.

Be thankful for sleeping in later than usual, spending the morning watching football or movies without guilt…and emailing nobody.

Be thankful for your family and friends…especially those who drag you out on the flag football field so you can pull a groin.

Be thankful you are a sales professional and have committed your career to such a noble trade.

Do

Say "thanks" today…a lot.

Ping a couple of your closest clients with a meme of a fat turkey. Thank them for their business and trust.

Take it further…record what you’re thankful for in your Wins Journal. That could be anything/everything from a supportive manager to a recent pay bump to winning a new piece of biz.

Better yet, focus your gratitude on your performance (not results).

For example, be thankful your presentation skills have grown this year (it’s because you practiced), or you’ve become a better negotiator (because you practiced)!

OR, you’re thankful for MySalesDay, which has sharpened your attention on developing your skills and good habits!

"Manage your performance, not your results."

Ever heard of that famous sales adage?

What that maxim is about is skills and skill activation.

Good, solid, repeatable, and smart skills will serve you strongly throughout your career. If you attend to the habits, strategies, and approaches that consistently create good outcomes, you won’t have to worry about the outcomes; the results you want will follow!

Today – Thanksgiving Day in the U.S.A. – be not grateful for the strong year you’re having, the recent win you landed, or the big new patch assigned to you…instead, be grateful that you appreciate skills as the engine that drives your performance.

Oomph

You’re undoubtedly looking forward to a feast that will commence in a few short hours. Perhaps, as you read this, your house is filling with smells that can only signal the fourth Thursday of November.

And – hopefully – your football team will win, Uncle Jack won’t rant too much about this crazy world we live in, and your family won’t talk politics.

Either way, maybe your friends from the bygone TV sticom Cheers will make you laugh and remind you why this darn holiday is so fun.
