8/12/2024-Do an Attitude Pushup today

Published on

Skill

Remind yourself that everyone in your life deserves your smile and your nice self. You’ll get what you need in return when you give them your best.

Having a "good attitude" on Thursdays or Fridays is easy, but what about Mondays?

Most sellers are incredibly positive and undeterred, but headwinds are constant and intense, even for the most resolute.

Summer Mondays may require a proactive decision to be positive. That’s okay, just make sure you switch it on early in the day, not at 5pm.

Mondays are a whopping 20% of your work week, and you need to make them count for at least 20% because Fridays come in at about 15%.

Ready to kick it up?

Do

Today, do ONE Attitude Pushup!

(Huh?)

As it sounds, an AP commits you to a good attitude today!

Even if you were at the gym at 5am, get on the floor into a pushup position.

On the way down, state proudly, "Nothing’s stopping me today."

Seriously…say it.

On the way up, say, "I am strong, capable, and I’m gonna be positive all day."

Pick whatever mantra you want, but without a verbal proclamation of your decision to be positive, you’ll just be doing a regular pushup.

Do it.

You’ve read a lot about how good it is to have a good attitude, but what about how to get one when it doesn’t come naturally? How do you just flip the switch?

Try these three tips:

1. Smile. Yep…it feels weird to force a smile, but you’ll notice that when you turn on your smile, you will feel better. If you need a nudge, go into your phone and search for that one photo that contracts your cheeks. Smiling is fun.

2. Be nice. Make it a point to be nicer when replying to everyone you touch today – internal peers, higher-ups, prospects, clients…even the creep who looks at you weirdly when handing over your coffee.

3. Get back to your WINS JOURNAL and read some entries….better yet, record a few entries for the day…even if it’s not yet 6pm (which is when one normally records wins of the day).

If all else fails, remind yourself that everyone in your life deserves the above: they deserve your smile, and they deserve your nice self. When you give them your best, you’ll get what you need in return.

Happy happy joy joy…can’t buy it at the store store.

Oomph

So…how’d your AP feel? Good?

Awesome…congrats.

Tomorrow, maybe you’ll do two APs. Three the next day? Pretty soon, you’ll be ready for a NO-hands pushup. (A WHAT?)

There are no limits to where a strong, good attitude can take you. And apparently, there aren’t any limits to pushups, either.

(You decide whether this amazing no-hands pushup is real or not.)
