1/19/2024-The Power of your Wins Journal

Skill
There’s a reason lots of people try sales and then leave for other jobs. It’s a huge heap of pressure! Recognize that your commitment fuels your success…so be proud of your WINS.
Wouldn’t it be amazing if you had a record of daily wins you could read that fill you with pride and motivation?
It exists…it’s called a Wins Journal. And best yet, managing a WJ takes only three minutes daily.
A life in sales is great fun, but your days are filled with scores of tasks, meetings, conversations, emails, and other minutiae. You might go to bed each night asking yourself, "…so what exactly did I accomplish today?"
Tracking a few wins every night accrues quickly into one big recorded CONGRATS that is yours to embrace and feel good about! Otherwise, you’ll be waiting awhile for a pat on the back.
Do
No doubt, the last thing you want to do at the end of the day is pound on your keyboard for three more minutes.
Ok. Don’t.
But before you decide not to commit to a WJ… surprise yourself and do it anyway.
Write down what you’re proud of achieving on a tab with today’s date in column A. It could be a tangible achievement like receiving an order from a prospect you’ve been chasing or activating a skill you’ve been trying.
In column B, write down a few notes about the item that will bring a smile to your face two – or even twelve weeks down the line when you review your wins.
You had at least three WINS today…write ’em down.
What separates you from others you compete against? Is it your knowledge of your industry? Is it your effervescent personality? Is it your skill set? Or…is it your guile…your commitment? (PICK D….PICK D!)
At the end of the day, not much separates you from most other sellers. There are talented, skilled professionals in every industry, selling all kinds of stuff out there.
What separates the TOP 10% from the others is coimmitment. Dedication. Pure drive to get it done…and get it done right.
Sure, there are other definitions of what it means to be a professional, but at the end of the day, your desire and grit will separate you and get you the rewards you seek.
You spend incredible amounts of energy chasing and winning business…why wouldn’t you spend just three minutes a day patting yourself on the back, charting your WINS?
Oomph
You Wins Journal to feel. (Yes, it’s a verb, too!) And feeling successful is a huge part of your daily selling blueprint.
"What I’ve Learned From Reading Over 10,000 Diaries" is a great title for a Ted Talk and may make you feel something jiggle inside, let alone urge you to watch the video.
Spending 18 minutes with Sally MacNamara Ivey will definitely make you feel and could inspire you to write in a diary. But for now, commit to a Wins Journal.
It’s only Day 19…think of all the wins coming your way this year that deserve to be recorded.
Quote of the day
“We do not write in order to be understood; we write in order to understand.” Cecil Day Lewis
