Tis the season for your manifesto

Skill

Resolutions get a bad rap this time of year, but they’re still a solid tool that helps you focus on your goals.

To be successful each year, you need to be disciplined. Being disciplined requires both a rigorous goal-setting protocol and a manifesto.

Creating a personal manifesto codifies your commitment to who you are, what you do, and why you do it.

Manifestos cement belief systems that guide daily behaviors. Manifestos guide you during tough times.

Do

Carve some do not disturb time today and work on your 2026 manifesto.

Begin your declarations with "I believe…". List as many as you want.

Don’t worry if your "I believes…" fall into work or personal categories. Let ’em flow. Write ’em down as they come. You can categorize them later – if that’s important to you.

Try it.

Define what you believe in and why it matters to you, and you’ll create a personal value code that will help you in the next 364 days of selling.

This TED Talk from Ramat Tejani offers a great story and a manifesto blueprint that will help you create your manifesto.

Ramat offers an incredibly honest realization of what a manifesto does for her: "I was so focused on doing what I thought was expected of me rather than doing what was right for me."

Good for you, Ramat.
