Turn it all off this weekend…do nothing

Just being??? What the heck is that???

There are lists to revise…calendars to plan…emails to reply to…and of course, CRM data to record.

And a lot of that stuff spills over to weekends! (Ugh.) But c’mon, you’re not a surgeon saving lives…all of that work will be there on Monday.

Today, try to do nothing.

But if you find that doing nothing gets boring after a while, how about settling for not working? Your brain is not built to focus on work every day. While it’s still early in the year, and you’re setting yourself up for the marathon, it’s also important to pace yourself.

Why not lose yourself in a book? How about fiction? What about Boys in the Boat? Or, 11/23/63 by Stephen King? (THAT’S a great, fun book.)

At least, watch the charming ninth grader Ella Lee in this compelling TED Youth Talk. You’ll hear her persuasive case for why reading provides immense joy and personal escapism.

Who doesn’t want that on a weekend?

Quote of the day

In today’s rush, we all think too much, seek too much, want too much…and forget the joy of just being.
