Practice like Steph Curry

Skill

Wardell Stephen Curry turns 38 tomorrow. (Maybe he’ll go for 38 points tomorrow night against the Knicks?)

There’s not much more to say about the man considered the best basketball shooter of all time. However, shooting is not his superpower. Practicing is Steph’s power.

He once said, "I want to practice to the point where it’s almost uncomfortable how fast you shoot so that in the game, things kind of slow down."

Smart man. Committed man.

Happy birthday, Chef.

Do

Today, grab a role-playing partner and have her/him fire questions at you about your offering.

Speed up your practice so your mind feels the pressure of being grilled by a buyer in a meeting. Focus on presenting short, VALUE-able responses.

Next…do the same drill for objections.

Have your buddy fire objections at you, and practice staying calm and cool when dealing with them.

Remember to practice brevity and clarity, too!

Oomph

Steph’s pre-game warmups are legendary and known throughout the basketball world. Hundreds of fans arrive long before tip-off to observe his mastery.

Watch this short clip of Steph practicing, and you can imagine it’s how he played in his backyard when he was 10. Steph is so joyful about his preparation and work.

Make your practice sessions fun, and you’ll learn more, too.

Quote of the day

I can get better. I haven’t reached my ceiling yet on how well I can shoot the basketball.
