8/7/2025-Sell when you’re servicing

Published on

Skill

Some of the best sales opportunities occur when your clients are being serviced. Even if others in your company are charged with and compensated for servicing your customers, stay involved as much as you can. (Nobody knows how to sell like you!)

Every interaction with a paying customer is a selling opportunity.

Of course, selling during service exchanges should not be heavy-handed, so think hard about being strategic with the upselling, reselling, and cross-selling.

Do

Today, insert value and benefits nuggets into your conversation when speaking with your customers on service calls.

Try this line: "This we’re working on is because of how our company does X…and that value to you is blah blah."

Here’s another line that may help: "X happened because of this and that, and we do it that way because we’re trying to deliver ABC value to you."

Your customers need constant reminding about the why.

Oomph

With one quick hit on the OOMPH link below, you will get to view the most gawd-awful video you’ve ever seen in your life…

It’s SO campy and stupid, you will fall in love with the amateur players and laugh your arse off. Their 3-minute "music video" title is "Service is Selling/Selling is Service" – and it might just be your next earworm.

It’ll be hard to believe these performers are unpaid. (It’s doubtful there was any rehearsal at all….you’ll especially enjoy the woman singing from her script.)

Quote of the day

"Every contact we have with a customer influences whether or not they’ll come back. We have to be great every time or we’ll lose them.” Kevin Stirtz
