On this day in 1998, Sergey Brin and Larry Page filed incorporation papers for the little search engine company named Google.
Why is this important to you, killer sales pro?
With Google as your research partner, there are few limits to what you can learn about your customers.
Google’s IPO filing anniversary is a reminder to dig and research your prospects so you’re armed with as much as you can about your customers… before every meeting.
Sales 101, yes. Now, make it a habit.
Do
Today, walk into your pitch meetings (umm, Zooms), knowing as much as possible about your prospects/clients.
But don’t focus on volume; make your Googling give you answers that fill your holes.
What do you need to know about your prospect that will enable you to help them?
Is it info about their future product release schedule? Is it about their current performance? What about competitive issues?
Your prospects will only hand over the keys to their sportscar and give you valuable insights if they trust you. Knowledge builds trust.
